Adjectives Of Number | Numeral Adjectives

Numeral adjectives answer the question how many. There are three types of them.

Definite numeral adjective | Examples: one, two, three, first, second etc.

• There are two birds in that nest.
• I bought twelve large eggs.
• This is the fifth time you have asked the same question.
• She was the first woman to win this award.

Note that before a noun, we put ordinal numbers (first, second etc.). After a noun, we put cardinal numbers.

Indefinite numeral adjective | Examples: some, any, many, few, all, none etc.

• I couldn’t answer any of the questions they asked.
• There weren’t many people at the party.

Distributive numeral adjective | Examples are: each, every, either, neither

• Each adult person has a vote.
• I don’t know either of them.
